As we start the informal group conversation about who becomes the next Chairman of Akoko Edo Local Government in 2026 election as it is being proposed by the Edo state government under His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo, let us remember the popular maxim, “the taste of the pudding is from the eating” which explains that the real value of something can be judged only from practical experience or results and not from appearance or theory.
Extrapolating the above adage vis-à-vis the myriad of persons who have indicated interest to champion the course of the people of Akoko Edo politically, it is significant that we analyse and evaluate their pedigrees properly so as not to bring in somebody who will flatten our collective patrimony in the form of allocations and other revenues generated internally particularly so that the FGN is harnessing the possibility of solid mineral exploitation for which Akoko Edo is heavily endowed.
In consideration of the above therefore, one man who is standing tall with no ambiguity, who has proven track record is HUMPHREY TEDDY ADEWUMI, Chairman CEO, Trig Energy Ltd. Aviation Fuel and Logistics Lagos. Many wonder why a man of his significant value and worth would want to come lead Akoko Edo council but alas, he is coming to fix the ugly trend of marginalisation, abandonment and amassment of wealth illegally which he started even if he is not there yet.
We have had many chairmen in the last two decades but obviously none has a background like that of Teddy Adewumi. They have done their best though may not be good enough but considering the globalization and digitalization of governance and the need for modernity, it is important that our people try another pattern of administration which is effective and efficient utilization of the resources which will accrue to Akoko Edo in the next dispensation.
Teddy Adewumi, a man who has placed himself on “self-test to the admiration of Akolo Edo people long before he declared his aspiration to serve. His benevolence is now second to none and it is on record that as at today, the young man is not rivalled in the last 30 years and not likely in the nearest future by the way he displays his human
ness to mankind.
Considering the concern of Governor Monday Okpebholo to deliver Edo state for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his re-election bid comes 2027 and the pivotal role Akoko Edo is expected to play to actualize it, Humphrey Teddy Adewumi is the best mobiliser to be recruited to help drive such progressive assignment. As it is today in Akoko Edo, he remains the most popular, acceptable and humane God’s gifted young lad in the heterogeneous political society of Akoko Edo. Though he is from the Okpameri axis of the area, his acceptance cut across the whole domain making it easy and smooth for navigation. The governor of Edo State should be magnanimous to all aspirants by allowing a level playing ground for free, fair and uninterrupted primary election so that the people’s choice would not be trampled.
Teddy Adewumi has spontaneity to his philanthropic activities. He enrols NECO, WASC, JAMB for students across the local government without sentiment or divide and also pay school fees for others in the tertiary institutions. He offset medical bills for some women who have faced difficulty during child delivery. His propensity for good education which makes a better society is the reason he wants young people to have access to school enrolment and payment of examination fee.
Only recently Teddy Adewumi demonstrated his concern for better school environment as a bedrock to producing productive human resources and so he took up the rehabilitation of a 3-block classroom building and Headmaster’s office at Efolo Primary School Ibillo, Akoko Edo North constituency. The classroom building hitherto dilapidated is now wearing a facelift courtesy of Humphrey Teddy Adewumi. Pupils of the school have appreciated the kind gesture of their benefactor and prayed for him to keep his philanthropy up while wishing him God’s guidance always.
There is no better way to analyse and evaluate the suitability of the aspirants than x-raying their antecedents and their current political approach to issues of concern to Akoko Edo local government. Only recently too, Teddy led by supporters of Ted Force Movement, a movement where he is the commander that enjoys mass support of youngsters from Akoko Edo and other followers were conspicuously present at the flag off of failed portions of the Auchi – Igarra – Ibillo road in Akoko Edo LG. Humphrey Teddy Adewumi represents the new Akoko Edo we long desire where our potentials can be maximised for the benefit of all.
