UNEME WOMEN INITIATIVE FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT (UWICD) EMPOWERED SELECTED UDOCHI WOMEN
Uneme Udochi in Etsako East LG of Edo state was the next place to benefit from the empowerment and skills acquisition program of UWICD, an Uneme women NGO known for community and women development across the communities that make up the Uneme Nation.
UWICD is an incorporated Board of Trustees designed to build a healthy diverse Uneme Communitites where everyone is respected by pooling resources and skills together to ensure basic infrastructures and sustainable development.
The objective is to identify and unravel challenges that bedeviled Uneme communities leading to decent standard of living.
Today, UWICD has members from Nigeria and in diaspora from 8 Uneme Communities of Anegbette, Uzanu, Udochi, Akiosu, Ekpedo, Uneme Nekhua, Akiosu and Erhurun and it intends to cover the remaining Uneme communities in the shortest period of time.
Recently, selected Uneme Udochi women in Etsako East LG of Edo state benefitted from UWICD empowerment and skill acquisition in classification which includes -:
– Agricultural development
– Tie and dye of fabrics
– Bead and Soap making.
The women were also financially empowered to support the skills acquired. Beneficiaries include;-

Skill Acquisition program on Soap Making:-

The event which took place at the Uneme Udochi Primary School Hall was organised to provide entrepreneurship development for rural women of the community. Resource fellows who deliver the training lecture include :-

2. Maryam Emasealu
3. Faith Alfred
Udochi community leaders and dignitaries who were present thanked and praised UWICD for their brilliant initiative. The trainees were presented with a cash amount of N50,000 each (fifty thousand naira) to enable them start up.

Reacting, one of the beneficiaries Sis Bridget Salamotu thanked UWICD for the opportunity given to them to participate in the entrepreneurial development skills and promised that the knowledge acquired will be put into practical utility and especially so that stipend was given to take off immediately.
