The annual event which climaxed yesterday was hosted by Erhurun Uneme National Dpevelopment Association (EUNDA), Auchi branch. The association led by Chief Sunny Oghene Joel, who also doubled as the chairman APC ward 9 Akoko Edo LG of Edo state and his vice-chairman, an Academia, Researcher and Scientist Prince Mikhelovba Ezekiel Braimoh, Associate Professor Dan Aliu of the Iyamo University, Justice Agbodenegbe Ajulo and other notable members meticulously planned the event which many think is the best since the inception of the annual event.
His Royal Highness Oba M.O.A Braimoh, the Ogienoruele of Erhurun Uneme, ClanHead Uneme Central represented by the National Chairman of Erhurun Uneme National Development Association (EUNDA) Andrew Omosekhovba Johnson was very brief in his royal declaration. “I thank all sons and daughters of this great kingdom for this blessed day to witness this rejuvenated Ukpe festival 2025. My special appreciation goes to Auchi branch for taking this task to host us today. From the kitty wherein resources were galvanized and all those who contributed, may the Almighty God replenish in many folds. Let me therefore put Abuja and Lagos branch of the EUNDA on notice that 2026 & 2027 respectively, it will be their turn to host this well celebrated annual event”.
The chairman of Auchi Branch of EUNDA Chief Sunny Oghene Joel in his own remarks also succinctly said, “I want to say that the beauty and sufficiency of today’s event is not to qqqbe credited to me but the collective efforts of all members of Auchi Branch of the EUNDA who were all awake to their responsibilities. What we desire from you today is just prayers so that this community can progress from strength to strength”.
Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development Edo State, Chief Olabisi Marie Idaomi in her brief remark said, “let me salute all the royal highnesses present here today especially my father HRH Oba M.O.A Braimoh the host as I am one of his decorated chiefs. My leaders from all divides present especially my political party, the chairman of the LGA and his entourage even though you didn’t observe protocols as usual may be my councillor and your political adviser didn’t remind you, I want to thank you all for making this event very memorable. Finally Auchi branch for this well organized and coordinated event, you are great and may God bless you and continue to replenish your stocks”.
The chairman of Akoko Edo LG Alabi Bliss Oshionogue succinctly told the audience that he was impressed by what is happening today. According to him, “As a responsive and proactive administration under the leadership of Senator Monday Okpebholo Governor of Edo state, my administration will do everything to support communities in dire need of something. As a first step, we have captured the grading of Erhurun Uneme-Ojirami road and shortly work will commence. In our 2025 budget, the Erhurun Primary Health Centre and the Primary School was captured and work is also due to commence in no distant time”.
The high-point of the event was the presentation of cash stipend of N20,000.00 (Twenty thousand naira only) to 30 local entrepreneurs. Also 50 bags of 10kg Rice was distributed to widows and other less privilege members of the community. This gesture places Auchi branch on a high premium raising scepticism as to who will be able to surpass it in subsequent hosting.
Also at the event yesterday, the very robust, vibrant, dynamic and young upcoming political juggernaut Hon Imade John use the opportunity to distribute wrappers and Jotters to some selected persons. The beneficiaries were drawn from 3 each of the 12 kindred in the community plus extra 4. This gesture again reminds us of the philanthropic and humble nature of Imade John who within a shirt time has written his name in the plaque of posterity. Represented by Comrade Emmanuel Ogbodi Ekhakbafe, Imade said, “this is just my token this season to our selected women and others, you will pardon my inevitable absence as I hope that the next festival will have me around and we shall celebrate it together.
