RURAL DEVELOPMENT WOMEN NGO VISITS CHIEF BISI IDAOMI, PRESENTS CONGRATULATORY PLAQUE

Uneme Women Initiative for Community Development (UWICD) worldwide pays a congratulatory visit to Chief Olabisi Marie Idaomi, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development in Benin City, Edo State Nigeria.
The spokesperson of the NGO, Mrs Dupe Ayo along side others who arrived the office of the commissioner said, “we as a body of NGO whose activities major on women welfare and rural community development have come to congratulate you on your well-deserved appointment as commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development in Edo state. We are proud of you as an Uneme woman and knowing your capacity and resilience to positive results always, you have always stood in the front for pursuit of women welfare and community development. We pray to God to catapult you as the first woman president of this country. May God also give you the grace and power to turn this your new assignment positively around for the betterment of Edo State and rural women development in particular.
In her own remarkable speech, the commissioner, Chief Bisi Idaomi thanked the NGO for the visit and assured them that her office surely will work with the group to alleviate the plight of women and the development of rural community.
According to the commissioner, “These are my people, my cousins amongst them. The Uneme Women Initiative for Community Development (UWICD). You can see that our women have love for our rural development. I don’t think any group in this form has visited me from any part of the state where women have initiative for better rural development. Women based in Abuja, Benin Lagos and London are doing good things for people back home. I am very proud of Abeke Julius qand all of you women in this project”.
“In anyway possible, my Ministry and my boss His Excellency Governor Monday Okpebholo can assist the NGO, we will certainly do because the Uneme communities in Edo State gave massive votes to APC which culminated to the victory for which Edo state is experiencing huge turnaround to real infrastructural and human development. I will crave your indulgence to be patient as the governor is just 5 months in office and myself barely two month so that as soon as he settles down, we shall pay him working visit”.
The Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, h Jnas paid a visit to Uromi, the headquarters of Esan South East Local Government Area of the state, after receiving a sad report of an incident leading to unwarranted murder and arson.
The state government had strongly condemned the barbaric act allegedly committed by members of a local vigilante in which seven persons were burnt to death on suspicion of being kidnappers.
Governor Monday Okpebholo, who visited the town to assess the situation, expressed dismay over the heinous killings. He condemned the actions of the vigilante members in the strongest terms and promised justice for the victims.
The governor said there is no excuse for the vigilante members to take the law into their own hands without recourse to statutory law enforcement agencies.
He directed the State Police Command and other security agencies to conduct thorough and speedy investigations into the matter and bring those found culpable to book. He also charged the community to work with the security agencies to fish out the culprits.
Governor Okpebholo also commended community leaders, especially the leadership of the Arewa community in the area, for de-escalating tensions and handling the situation with restraint.
